Description

Product Type

Tick growth regulator and broad spectrum antiparasitic pour on for beef cattle

Description and Composition

ACATAK® Duostar is a ready-to-use pour-on formulation containing 15 g of fluazuron and 5 g of ivermectin per litre

Properties

Fluazuron is an acarine growth regulator belonging to the group of benzoyl-phenyl-ureas (BPUs). Like all BPUs, fluazuron interferes with the chitin synthesis. Treated immature ticks are unable to moult to the next stage, and no larvae will hatch from eggs laid by treated females.

Due to its specific mode of action, ACATAK Duostar is specially suited for the control of one-host ticks of the genus Boophilus. In situations where cattle serve as unique or major host for immature and adult stages of multihost ticks, the repeated use of ACATAK Duostar may also lead to a substantial reduction of the multihost tick population.

Ivermectin is an avermectin (macrocyclic lactone). Avermectins interact with glutamate-gated chloride ion channels, to increase membrane permeability to chloride ions, causing irreversible neuromuscular blockade in nematodes and arthropods, followed by paralysis and death.

Ivermectin has a broad spectrum of activity against adult and developing and inhibited immature nematodes as well as against immature and adult arthropods (ticks, mites and insects).
